candlelight

my first day in Nairobi is almost over…

I am sitting on my notebook, and while I am writing my first words ever for this blog – the lights switch off… all lights of Nairobi! Blackout…

I am smiling.

that’s life.

that’s Kenya…

I have been here before.

and today was exceptionally amazing… being reverberated in each single moment.

… starting with my flight over Kenya. with a big smile in my face – I am lucky. some of my most important and beloved study sites. Menengai Crater. Ol Kalou. Kinangop. Maatara. recognizing my friends’ home. SHAMBAs. the Mau Escarpment with its breathtaking view over the Rift Valley. the road I have taken numerous times… African sunset. landing in a blazing Nairobi full with memories. being reminded of many precious moments as a Biologist.

“Whatever we possess becomes of double value when we have the opportunity of sharing it with others.”

Jean-Nicolas Bouilly (1763-1842) Writer, Politician

This not only holds true for my experience with all the people I have met along my way…

I am here, because I like to share it with you.

… my experiences. encounters. friendships. my precious work. nature. my thoughts and feelings…

… and the lights are turned on again.
