neem & co
… not even a week!
well, yesterday I slept about 15 hours. my stomach revolted against the fish I ‘ve eaten the day before (I was too brave, I know)…
the waitress at breakfast helped me immediately with her ‘elixir’ – hot ginger and garlic! the taste I’d describe as quite intense. I smiled anyway.
From my last field trip here in Kenya, I remember one thing:
“A neem a day, takes your sorrow away.”
neem, Azadirachta indica, is a tree native in India and Pakistan, and has some nice synonyms – “Sacred Tree” “Heal All” “Nature’s Drugstore” “Village Pharmacy” and “Panacea for all diseases”.
Ann, one of my beloved field assistants, made sure that I always get my neem tea right before going to bed.
… and I really ask myself – why do all healthy things always taste so awful???
