MONDULI

my first study site.

finally, I meet my team. I am very happy to work with Bea, Musa & Jack… you will certainly get to know more about them along our long journey of this field season.

my new home. nyumbani

close to Arusha lies the Mountain called Monduli. we stay in Monduli Juu way up the mountain. and to be even more accurate – this very tiny Maasai village where we live is called Enguiki.

Maasai have a very very different way of life. in a very harsh environment. they are quite tough people. I guess they must be in order to survive here. for all of us it is an unforgettable experience. even if it can be quite complicated – I believe we are all grateful to be here. to get the chance to peek into the life of Maasai people. their culture. their believes…

the value of water

no water close by… maybe this experience would be good for all of us to learn to appreciate what it means to easily get as much water from the tap as you like…

chicken, donkey, goat & co

… either in the backyard. or even visiting you in your room. I actually like it a lot…

to be honest, yesterday we ate one of the roosters of our home… but that’s how life is here. I even like the fact that I know where my food comes from and what kind of life it had… (but to be even more honest – I am not sure if I could be the one to kill it… we’ll see)

I could go on and on… but this is just to give you a ‘lil peek of my ‘peek’…
