My day

sun.rain.sun.rain.sun.rain.sun.sun.sun…

the season of the ‘looooong rains’ which describes the kind of rainfall – if it rains it rains cats and dogs…

the Kinangop Plateau has an altitude of 2500m. the sun burns like hell… no shade nowhere. I could have known better already but right on my first day in the field I experienced the sunburn of my life.

and just a few minutes later…

I am soaked to the skin. no shelter nowhere.

the weather change is extreme.

I don’t care. I enjoy my time here. like always.

cutie puppies. just newborn lamb. smoochy baby cows… I have to squeeze them all!!! very territorial stonechat males – which makes my work a success and happiness coz we catch them easily. many recaptures or sights of ringed birds from last year. hiking through the fields and grasslands. the Aberdares in the background. laughing with my beloved field assistants. getting to know so many new people. meeting old friends… and many many more memorable experiences…
